Best Browser - Google chrome becomes most popular browser in US by crossing IE

Google's internet browser google chrome has become the best browser in the US by leaving the microsoft's  Internet Explorer. Goole Chrome aims to be secure, fast, simple and stable.Chrome allows users to synchronize their bookmarks, history, and settings across all devices with the browser installed by sending and receiving data through a chosen Google Account, which in turn updates all signed-in instances of Chrome.

According to CBS News, a study by software maker Adobe Systems shows Chrome with 31.8% of the browser market, against 30.9% for IE and 25% for Apple's Safari.

Google has gained significant amount of share in PC market, and with their large mobile presence they are strong in race to capture the mobile market too. However, many companies built internal web-based applications optimized for the IE, but the growing popularity of Chrome could soon change this trend, the report added.

How google chrome user interface looks like :

By default, the main user interface includes back, forward, refresh/cancel and menu buttons. A home button is not shown by default, but can be added through the Settings page to take the user to the new tab page or a custom home page.

Tabs are the main component of Chrome's user interface and as such, have been moved to the top of the window rather than below the controls. This subtle change contrasts with many existing tabbed browsers which are based on Windows and contain tabs. Tabs, with their state, can be transferred seamlessly between window containers by dragging. Each tab has its own set of controls, including the Omnibox.
The Omnibox is a URL box  that combines the functions of both the address bar and search box. If a user enters the URL of a site previously searched from, Chrome allows pressing Tab to search the site again directly from the Omnibox. When a user starts typing in the Omnibox, Chrome provides suggestions for previously visited sites,  popular websites and popular searches.
One of Chrome's differentiating features is the New Tab Page, which can replace the browser home page and is displayed when a new tab is created.
 

 

What makes Google Chrome different is its architecture :

One advantage is that when you close a tab, you are virtually terminating the process. This seams to have some interesting implications on the security of the browser. If you corrupt the tab’s memspace then you will crash only that particular process. The browser and all other tabs should continue working just fine like nothing ever has happened. 

Google Chrome also implements a new privacy feature. They call it incognito. Basically if you browse while being in incognito mode, nothing ever gets logged.
Another interesting feature which I need to mention is that popups are not blocked but they open in a minimized window. If you want to see them you just drag the popup icon and there you go. However this may be abused.

• A site crash on one tab will not cause the browser to crash. This is because google chrome is multi-threaded process. Each tab is a separate thread with its own memory space.
